Artemya is the artistic pseudonym under which a contemporary European artist chooses to present her paintings.
The name was born from a simple intention: to allow the artwork to exist before the artist.
Within this space of creative freedom, painting becomes a journey of inner exploration — a visual language that speaks before words.
Born into an aristocratic Italian family, the artist grew up in an environment where art, culture, beauty and sensitivity were an integral part of everyday life. From an early age, colour, texture and light became an instinctive way of engaging with the world.
Painting soon emerged as a natural path.
In a makeshift studio beneath the attic of an Art Nouveau house, creating became a daily ritual. Early mornings, late evenings and entire days were devoted to painting. Each work evolved intuitively, guided by the energy of the moment, the emotions of a particular day, or simply by what sought to emerge.
Artemya works primarily with acrylic on canvas.
Layers of paint are applied, moved and sometimes erased until a fragile yet vibrant balance reveals itself.
The compositions unfold as inner landscapes: nocturnal cities, frozen horizons, silent forests, luminous fragments and deeper emotional tensions. The work belongs to a form of lyrical abstraction in which emotion takes precedence over representation.
Subtle echoes of artists such as Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter, Nicolas de Staël and Zao Wou-Ki may occasionally be perceived, yet the work remains firmly rooted in its own visual language, guided by intuition and lived experience.
Each painting becomes a space of encounter with oneself.
Placed within a living space, a painting becomes a quiet presence — a silent point of balance capable of transforming the atmosphere. In the dialogue between the artwork and the viewer, the painting may sometimes become a mirror, opening onto one's own inner landscape.
Creating under a pseudonym is a conscious choice: to allow the paintings to exist freely and to invite every viewer to encounter them without intermediary.
Every artwork presented here is a unique original, created in the artist's studio.
